Chicago American Indian Community Collaborative
Inquiry for Independent Contractor Consulting Services

About the CAICC: It is a network of Native American organizations and programs that
joined together in 2012 to collectively work on improving conditions for Native Americans
in the Chicago-area. A steering committee consisting of representatives from each
organization establishes the policies and procedures for CAICC. Its community agenda
however, is comprised of plans that were formed through a community wide planning
process involving all the stakeholders: organizations, individuals, families, etc. CAICC is
committed to maintain this “ground up” grassroots approach to community planning and
Consulting Services Sought: The CAICC seeks the services of an independent contractor
consultant for a minimum of 6 months work averaging 20 hrs/week. Services to be
provided consist of the following:

  • Facilitate and provide strategic support to steering committee and sub committees
    to implement strategic plans
  • Coordinate group trainings
  • Represent the CAICC at meetings with elected officials, allies, and other forums
  • Create and manage budget
  • Perform prospect research on foundation, corporation, and tribal grants
  • Conduct all activities required to prepare, submit and manage grant proposals to
    foundation, corporation and tribal grant sources
  • Develop reports to fiscal agent and funders
  • Manage website
  • Oversee retention of independent contractors, if any
  • Perform additional services upon terms as mutually agreed upon

Desired Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of Native American communities, cultures and processes
  • Self-directed and able to handle multiple projects and responsibilities
  • College degree or equivalent experience in not-for-profit management
  • Experience with website management
  • Successful experience writing grants
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel locally; have reliable transportation
  • Experience in organizing and developing community service programs
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Interest in multiple fields ranging from education, health, housing to cultural arts

Consulting Fee:
$500 per week

AIHSC Head Nurse Receives Public Health Champion Award

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) observed Native American Heritage Month by honoring Native Americans who have dedicated their lives to public health. Every May, IDPH takes the opportunity to celebrate the rich heritages and histories of this indigenous community by acknowledging the contributions the Native American community has made to our Nation’s progress.

IDPH recognized Danielle Bellinger of AIHSC with the Public Health Champion award on November 30th. The Public Health Champion award reflects the purpose of Native American Heritage Month, and honors remarkable individuals, celebrates their achievements, and recognizes their commitment to improving the health of Illinoisans.
