The Tunica-Biloxi Chicago Branch Office is a satellite office for the Tunica- Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana and also a hub for the local Native American community in Chicago. The Branch Office serves as a gathering space for events and programing that focus on education, community, and healing for the Tribal citizens in the Chicago-land area. The Branch Office hosts various programs and classes with the aim to keep the Tunica- Biloxi culture alive, such as beading, language, and cooking. The Branch Office is partnered with and plays host to various organizations in the Chicagoland area. The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana’s ancestral lands, reservation, and governmental operations are located in Marksville, Louisiana. The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe has a citizenship count of over 1,600 federally recognized members today, with over 200 of those Tribal citizens located in Chicago and the surrounding areas. The Tunica-Biloxi people have been located in Chicago for well over 100 years, but being so far from the reservation, a large part of the Tribal culture and identity was being lost to time and distance. There have been serious efforts since the early 1990’s to establish a satellite office in the area to serve Tribal citizens’ needs in Chicago, but it was not until nearly 30 years later in 2019 when The Tunica- Biloxi Chicago Branch Office was established as a 7871 Native American Organization.
