Panel Discussion: Native Language Revitalization and Contemporary Art Zoom webinar registration

Patrick Del Percio, Lector of Cherokee language in the Department of Linguistics at Yale University, will lead a conversation focusing on Native language revitalization. Speakers include Harry Oosahwee, a first language Cherokee teacher, painter and sculptor; Kai Minosh Pyle, a poet and language activist; and Royce Young Wolf, Assistant Curator of Native American Art at the Yale Peabody Museum.

Sarah Young Bear-Brown will be the ASL interpreter for the event.

Part of their discussion will refer to the works of late artist Kimowan Metchewais, whose Polaroids evoking sign language appear in Native America: In Translation.
